Charwei Tsai's works are possessed of a powerful individuality, imbued with her own views and concerns as regards geography, society and spiritual issues, with subject matter encompassing everything from environmental matters to the vagaries of life.
Her piece “Ah” is an ink calligraphic representation of the letters “Ah” as endlessly melding with repetitious background sounds of the syllable enunciated. “Ah” alludes to a number of sacred aspects of numerous religions, such as “Allah,” “Amen,” “Amitabah,” “alleluia,” and “A-om.” “Ah” appropriates the resonance of sound and imagery to emphasize the symbiotic relationship between one's surroundings and spirituality.
